Happy New Year's Eve! Tonight, as you celebrate, please remember that bottle rocket fireworks with sticks and missile fireworks with fins are strictly prohibited in Caldwell County.

Additionally, while Caldwell County is not under a burn ban at this time, the National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook that includes a Critical Fire Weather advisory that's in effect through 6 p.m. today due to expected high winds. Outdoor burning is not recommended today.

Additional guidance from the Texas Division of Emergency Management:

Affected residents are urged to exercise care with respect to all
outdoor activities that could inadvertently cause wildfires. 

Avoid the use of welding or grinding equipment near grass and dry
brush. In addition, avoid parking vehicles in tall, dry grass and
weeds that could be ignited. 

Do not toss cigarette butts on the ground. Report wildfires
quickly to the nearest fire department or law enforcement office.
